How is a sports physiotherapist different to other physiotherapists'?
The Australian Physiotherapy Association awards Physiotherapists who have extensive experience in treating sporting injuries at an elite level and a post graduate Masters Qualification in Sports Physiotherapy the Title of Sports Physiotherapist. 
 
How long does an appointment take?
This will vary depending on your injury and what attention it requires.  You can expect an initial consultation to run for 45 minute to one hour and a standard consultation to run from half an hour to forty minutes.
 
Do I need a referral to make an appointment at Excel Sports Medicine?
A referral is not needed to see an APA Sports Physiotherapist.  All you have to do is make an appointment.
 
Does my private health insurance cover this service?
If you have private health insurance with extras cover you will receive a rebate, we have HICAPS on site.
 
 
Are you able to claim from health funds electronically at the clinic?
Yes, the clinic is HICAPS equipped so most health funds are able to process claims at the time of appointment.
 
What can I expect at the first consultation?
An assessment , involving an interview and hands on testing of the injury site. 
Diagnosis, prognosis along with goal setting and an estimation of how many sessions you may require as well as what you can do to progress  your rehabilitation.    
 
What will I have to do?
Recovery is a team effort! 
Your physiotherapist will outline how your recovery and return to sport  will progress and provide you with activities to complete between your sessions.  
 
Does the physiotherapist come to training and games?
Depending on your injury or problem the physiotherapist may need to watch you play or train to fully diagnose and treat the issue.  This can be done live at the ground or via video analysis. 
The physiotherapist can also work with your team and provide trackside support or other services which may give you the edge over the competition.
